Marcel Sounds from the City! It seeps into the subconscious. This musical melting pot that is London I wanted to reflect in my music. It dawned on me that I've always shied away from championing any particular music genre.

I love my rock, as much I love jazz, Latin, African, soul or funk.

I'm all sequenced out! Listening back to our first album, "Bassistry", the tracks were recorded with no more than 3 takes. When I analyse what my favourite records are, my natural desire is to hear music which is played live, which has that spontaneity. That energy, the interaction between people with different skills, talents and voices is the language of music. With these factors in mind, Bassistry is all about exploring different music whilst never ever really adhering to any.

What category you put it in I don't know, and I'm happy to say I don't care. There's Latin, soul, jazz, soul, hip-hop, reggae grooves. It's all about the songs & the groove.

And the players: well the tribe that makes up Bassistry music are beautiful, highly skilled, humble, hungry musicians, they make the music more than it really is. They bring their experiences and non-experiences to the table, this provides the Bassistry sound.

Why BASSistry? Well, that's where it starts, it starts from the bottom, the bass lays the foundation of the groove in my music, everything else sits on top! I usually start composing using the bass, even the piano lines come from the simplicity of using the bass. Less options for me are a good thing.
